What's on TCM in December

Once again, I'm posting this a week earlier as I have a holiday themed post for next week and some Christmas themed posts for December. Highlights For December: Frank Sinatra is Star of the Month airing Wednesdays throughout the month.  Tina Fey is this month's Guest Programmer, airing December 22nd. The four films she picked are: Desk Set (1957), My Favorite Wife (1940), The Goodbye Girl (1977) and That's Entertainment! (1974) Treasures From The Disney Vault airs December 17th with 5 films and 4 shorts. TCM Spotlight is Girlfriends with 16 films airing Mondays throughout the month.  Christmas Classics with 21 films airs December 4th, 11th, 18th and 24th. In Memoriam airs December 29th with 5 films paying tribute to Louis Jourdan in Gigi (1958), Lizabeth Scott in Too Late for Tears (1949), Theodore Bikel in The Defiant Ones (1958), Coleen Gray in Kansas City Confidential (1952) and Anita Ekberg in Back from Eternity (1956). Icons of the 1940s

I'm back with the third installment of my Icons series. This time I'm focusing on the 1940s. The decade was all about glamour. Movie stars such as Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Ava Gardner were extremely popular fashion icons. Pin-up girls became all the rage. Gloves, hats and scarves were in style and a woman didn't complete her outfit with out one or all accessories. However not everything was glamorous, Until 1945 WWII was going on. During this time women took over mens jobs. The custom uniform for a woman was either overalls or trousers and  a cap, snood or scarf for head wear. Also shortages were around and not everything luxurious was available as those items were being shipped overseas to the men at war. Women had to be creative on items such as stockings and make-up. TCM Spotlight features Southern Writers airing Wednesdays throughout the month with 15 films. Greg Proops is this month's Guest Programmer on November 5th.
