January 5th is National Screenwriters Day and in honor of that I've rounded up a list of five women screenwriters to know.
Florabel Muir
Wrote 1935's Fighting Youth for Universal Pictures
Matilda Beatrice DeMille
Co-wrote 1917's The Devil-Stone and Castles for Two and Betty to the Rescue
Bonus- Was mother to filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille
Anita Loos
Was the writer for many shorts from 1912 to 1921 and wrote for several films in the 1930s including 1932's Red-Headed Woman co-wrote 1936's San Francisco
June Mathis
Wrote screenplay for 1921's The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and 1922's The Young Rajah
Joan Harrison
Co-wrote with Robert E. Sherwood the screenplay for 1940's Rebecca and co-wrote the screenplay with Charles Bennett 1940's Foreign Correspondent
