Guest Programmer on TCM: Part Two: Musicals

This is part two of my guest programmer series. As the title says part two is musicals. Musicals are my favorite genre. When I'm in a bad mood or sick I'll either listen to the soundtrack or put on a dvd and I'll start to feel better. This was a little hard for me as there are more than 4 films I love, so I cheated a bit and I put 5. Without further ado and in no particular order here are my favorites.




Gypsy (1962)

Running Time: 113 Minutes
Based on a series of short stories by Sally Benson.




Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg) (1964)
Directed By: Jacques Demy
Starring: Catherine Deneuve, Nino Castelnuovo, Anne Vernon
Running Time: 92 Minutes



Bye Bye Birdie (1963)
Directed By: George Sidney
Starring: Ann-Margret, Dick Van Dyke, Janet Leigh
Running Time: 112 Minutes
Based on the stage musical of the same name.




Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967)
Directed By: George Roy Hill
Starring: Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Channing
Running Time: 152 Minutes

Since we're in March and March is Women's History Month I thought I'd continue making posts centered on women, or rather, some of my favorite women throughout history.
