Same Title, Different Movie

There are several movies that have the same title but are a different movie. Here are a few of the original movies and the never movie with a different storyline. 

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (1941)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith - The 1941 version is a screwball comedy starring Carole Lombard and Robert Montgomery and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, yes really! The 2005 version is an action comedy starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. In the 1941 version the lead couple discovers they aren't legally married. In the 2005 version the lead couple are assassins assigned to kill each other. 

Fear (1946)

Fear (1996)

The 1946 version is a noir that is an Americanized retelling of Crime and Punishment, after a medical student murders a professor. The 1996 version is a psychological thriller, starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg, where a family's life is threatened after their 16 year old daughter begins dating a 23-year old man. 

Bombshell (1933)

The 1933 version is a comedy that stars Jean Harlow as a film star who wants to revamp her image in order to adopt a child. The 2019 version starring Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron, is a drama centered around the women who were sexually harassed by Roger Ailes at Fox News. 

The Accused (1949)

The Accused (1988)

The 1949 version is a film noir starring Loretta Young as a professor, and a student becomes interested in her. After he attempts to rape her, she kills him. The 1988 version stars Jodie Foster and Kelly McGillis, where Foster plays a waitress who is gang-raped, and it's loosely based on Cheryl Araujo's rape and media case in 1983. 

The Kid (1921)

The Kid (2000)

The 1921 version stars Charlie Chaplin who discovers an orphan and raises him until the orphanage wants the kid back. The 2000 version stars Bruce Willis who is an unhappy image consultant and gets a second shot at life. 

Notorious (1946)

Notorious (2009)

The 1946 version is a spy espionage thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock starring Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman, where Bergman is told to spy on her Nazi friends. The 2009 version is a bio pic of the rapper, Notorious B.I.G. 

Other same title movies include: Million Dollar Baby (1941) and (2004), Bed of Roses (1933) and (1996) and Glory (1956) and (1989).
