What's On TCM in May

Highlights For The Month: Clark Gable is May's Star of the Month airing Tuesdays throughout the month. TCM Spotlight Features Creature Feature with 24 films airing Thursdays. Creature Feature refers to films like King Kong and Godzilla . Happy 50th Anniversary 1967 airs May 12th and May 19th with 11 films. Memorial Day Marathon runs May 26-29 with 40 films. TCM Backlot Member Humberto Martinez is May's Guest Programmer on May 24th. The three films he picked are: Pal Joey (1957), T he Eddie Duchin Story  (1956) and Bye Bye Birdie (1963). Original and Remake: Psycho

I'm back with my monthly edition of Original and Remake. This month I'm focusing on Psycho . There are two versions of this film, the original from 1960 and the remake from 1998. The film is based on the 1959 book of the same name by Robert Bloch. This franchise went on to include 3 sequels, a TV film spin-off and a TV prequel series. Psycho (1960) Directed By: Alfred Hitchcock Starring: Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles Running Time: 109 Minutes Psycho (1998) Directed By: Gus Van Sant Starring: Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche, Julianne Moore Running Time: 104 Minutes By a long shot the original is the best version of this film, honestly there's no comparison. The original has Alfred Hitchcock's incredible directing, the score is chilling and Anthony Perkins is so believable as Norman Bates. Sadly the remake is is color and that's what ruins it.
