What's On TCM in October

Highlights For The Month: Christopher Lee is October's Star of the Month airing Mondays. TCM Spotlight: Trailblazing Women- Actresses Who Made A Difference airs Tuesdays and Thursdays with 40 films. Jonah Goldberg and Leon Wieseltier are this month's Guest Programmer airing October 5th. The four films they picked are: America, America (1963), Fury (1936), A Face in the Crowd (1957) and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) Terror Classic Movies airs Fridays with 34 horror themed films. Icons of the 1970s

I decided I would finish my Icons series this month, ending with the 1970s. So let's get started! In the early 1970s the bohemian, hippie look was still popular. Many women adapted to Glam Style where women began looking to past decades for fashion inspiration. Turbans were a popular accessory, as were clogs, cloche hats and chunky heels. Hot pants were invented in this era and usually worn with a tight fitting shirt. Diane Von Furstenburg invented the wrap dress in 1972 which flattered every body type and could be worn to work or out. As the mid 1970s began the hippie look was fading away. Active wear for women came around in 1975 and was popular until the 1980s. The late 1970s saw a lot of change in fashion. The rise of punk meant fashion like leather jackets, ripped jeans, safety pins and Doc Martens were popular. September is International Women's Friendship Month and in honor of that I decided to post my favorite fictional TV friendships. I broke my own rule and am posting 3 shows from the 80s and 90s which I don't consider old at all but I like the friendships from these shows. Also, I'll be honest with you I don't watch I Love Lucy or Laverne and Shirley which I know have popular friendships. Anyways here are my picks.
